By mimicking this hormone (GLP-1), it targets the area of the brain that regulates our appetite and food consumption. It slows down stomach emptying, thus leaving you feeling fuller for a longer period of time. It also stimulates the secretion of insulin and slows the release of glucagon in your body, influencing blood sugar control.

What Is the Difference Between Semaglutide and Tirzepatide?

Tirzepatide has shown to be more effective in weight loss. While both medications can lead to weight loss, there are key differences. Tirzepatide works similarly to other drugs in the GLP-1 agonist family, but it also contains a GIP receptor agonist, making it the first drug to imitate the two incretin hormones GIP/GLP-1. GIP has been shown to decrease food intake, boost insulin production, and lead to weight loss.

What are the Potential Risks?

It is important provide a thorough medical history to your provider before starting your weight loss journey. This medication should not be prescribed to individuals with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2), because there is an increased risk of developing thyroid C-cell tumors.

Other risks include:

  • Gallbladder problems, such as gallstones

  • Pancreatitis

  • Suicidal thinking or behavior

  • Diabetic retinopathy

  • Altered kidney function

Where is the Medication Shipped From?

All medications are shipped from a US-based Compounding pharmacy. The compounding pharmacies comply with the FDA regulations outlined in Section 503A in the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act of 1938 in order to operate.
